Demands for Engineering graduates: Engineers Australia have just released a report about the future of engineering in terms of demand for Australian graduates. One finding is that the demand for graduates will continue and that “all indicators show that the engineering sector will continue to experience growth, particularly in engineering construction”. Are you a female interested in Engineering? According to the Engineers Australia report above, only approximately 10% of all engineers in Australia are female. Many tertiary institutions offer scholarships for women applying for engineering programs. Institutions such as RMIT, Monash University, Deakin University, University of Melbourne and organizations such as Thiess offer substantial scholarships and bursaries. New Fashion Degree at Holmesglen: In this degree students focus on apparel and pattern engineering and design in one of 3 areas- clothing, textiles or footwear. The Bachelor of Fashion (Apparel Engineering and Design) will start in 2012. Interested in Tourism and Massage? Holmesglen will be offering the dual qualification Diploma of Tourism/ Certificate IV in Massage Therapy at their Waverley Campus in 2012. Mechatronics Day at RMIT: On Thursday 29 September, RMIT will be running a day for students in years 10 – 12 who are interested in cutting edge mechatronics and automation technology at their Bundoora Campus. Mechatronics is the integration of mechanical and electronic engineering to produce new devices and systems to improve technology. Examples include robots, car controls, traffic systems and elevators. You will participate in four workshops involving the construction of mechatronics systems to solve actual industry problems.
