On Wednesday 24th August, the students, staff and parents celebrated Founders’ Day.
Founders’ Day is an important event on our college calendar. It is a chance for us to remind ourselves of our identity as the Galen Catholic College community and to ask ourselves what it means to be a Galen student, staff member or parent. We look back at the important men and women who shaped Galen College due to their dedicated work; here at Galen, and before at Champagnat and St. Joseph’s and we are reminded of the educational, personal and community values that they have passed on to us.
Our focus this year was on our relationship with the Brigidine Sisters and how that relationship has enriched the story of Galen Catholic College. Our guest speaker representing the Brigidines was Sr. Cecilia Merrigan from St. Joseph’s College, Echuca. Sr. Cecilia was the first Deputy Principal of Galen and her inspiring words enabled all the students to firmly believe that their contribution to Galen is always valued and will be remembered by their friends and teachers in years to come.
