Italian Excursion to Melbourne

On Wednesday the 2nd of November, all of the Year 10 Italian students travelled to Melbourne for an educational excursion.
We left late and arrived at Museo Italiano in Melbourne at lunchtime. Here we learnt many things about the history of Italians in Melbourne, their immigration, and the pieces of Italy that they brought with them to Australia. After looking around the museum, we participated in a workshop called La Storia in Valigia, or “The Story of the Suitcase”. We got to see some items brought over by Italian cooks, shopkeepers, even cyclists, and learnt about the people that owned them.
After the workshop, we all went our separate ways for a late lunch on Lygon Street. We met back at the museum for one last look around, and then began our Carlton walk, where we saw the large amount of stores founded by Italian immigrants.
The bus trip home was loud and fun, but the entire day was great, and everyone enjoyed themselves. We’d all like to thank Ms Bellani, Mr Cudini and Mr Magree for taking us.
