Year 9 Ceramics Sculpture students constructed an art installation piece for Remembrance Day last Thursday morning. Staff and students gathered and paused to remember those who have made the supreme sacrifice in times of war.
Inspired by the breathtaking display of crotched poppies at Federation Square in Melbourne at the centenary for Anzac Day, the Year 9 Ceramics Sculpture class was guided by teacher Deb Doyle as students collaborated to create their own field of poppies in and around Galen’s War Memorial, built earlier this year.
Through the combined efforts of the Year 9 Ceramics Sculpture class and other homerooms across the college, hundreds of red poppies were created. Some poppies were also inscribed with initials, names of solders and tributes, which made for a very meaningful and stunning visual display.
