Australian School Based Apprenticeships (AS-bA)

Australian School-based Apprenticeships are arranged by an Australianapprenticeship centre (AAC). Locally we use MEGT or ATEL as a AAC.

Students have the opportunity to study VCE or VCAL units at school and work for an employer on a part-time basis in the traditional areas offered by apprenticeships.

Students sign a work agreement for 2 years. This is organised through training companies such as ATEL. Because there is a wide range of opportunities at Galen we work with individual students to meet their interests and career goals. Opportunities currently exist in:

• Agriculture
• Retail
• Automotive

• Building and Construction

Other areas such as :

• Plumbing
• Community Services
• Electrotechnology
• Information Technology
• Horticulture
• Engineering
and others may be available depending upon student interest.
