Australia Day honours

Old Collegian Jessica Lewis was honoured to be Named Youth Citizen of the Year at the recent Australia Day ceremony. The 2018 co-captain was a very worthy recipient, through her initiative, leadership and involvement in the community. Jess said she loves nothing more than seeing the ‘spark’ in other people she volunteers to help. A former youth councillor for Wangaratta, Jess is also involved in Girl Guides and the Lions Club. She is set to study International Relations at Deakin University this year. “I just like helping people,” she said. “There’s a joy I get in seeing people have that spark when they’re doing something they enjoy.”

Other nominated candidates included student Madalynn Baumanis for Youth Citizen of the Year and teacher Maree Timms for Citizen of the Year. They were also presented with certificates to recognize their contributions in the community. Congratulations to you all!
