Body Image and Healthy Eating Information Night
Recently in a Year 7 “new parents” survey, parents identified that they would like to know more about adolescent body image and eating disorders.
Being as informed as possible about how to recognise body image concerns will help you identify the warning signs in someone you are concerned about.
Helen Faithfull (Galen teacher) organised earlier in the year an information rich session for young people (8-12) to work with the Butterfly Foundation to improve self-esteem, and body image.
As a follow up to this and to address the need for parent information/support Galen College will be offering a Q & A night to gain Information and develop skills to be able to deal with situations relating to teenagers food and body image. We will also listen to Sarah Faithfull, listen to her inspiring story and experience and have the support of Galen mother Alison O’Brien from the Eating Disorders Support Group. There will be time for discussion and resources to take home
It is a great opportunity to learn about healthy body image and what you can do to assist your child or someone that you know when you are concerned.
When: Thursday 15th of August at 7pm – 8pm
RPSV: By Wednesday 14 of August to therese.rodway@gmail.com or by calling 57216322
