Galen’s Resource Centre hosted a very successful Education Resource Showcase on Monday August 3rd. The special event showcasing the latest in education materials for secondary students saw a variety of publishing house representatives visit the college. While conveniently located on campus for Galen staff, the showcase also drew registrants from a number of other schools around the North East area. From speaking with teachers, to giving product demonstrations and workshops, the education showcase is a great way for staff at Galen and around the district to stay abreast of changing curriculum and developing courses to meet the specific needs of students as they progress through secondary education. This year also saw the inclusion of contemporary school furniture stallholders, which respond to evolving classroom design needs, to further engage 21st century learners. Galen Deputy Principal Shaun Mason (Learning & Teaching) expressed that from Galen’s perspective, events like this are very important. “Particularly in light of Galen’s Curriculum Review and our future focused Master Plan for the college. As we progress toward determining our classroom plans, considerations such as furniture and resources become increasingly important. It’s also great having the opportunity to see what’s ‘out there’, right at our very doorstep, thanks to our Resource Centre staff.”
