Dear Parents and Guardians,

Galen’s new smartphone app is now ready to download from the Apple app store and Android store.

You can download it now by scanning the following QR codes or by visiting the App store directly via your smartphone or computer.

One of the great benefits of the new App is our ability to quickly and easily ‘push out’ notifications to parents. So in the event that a group may be returning late from a camp or excursion, we’ll be able to alert you via your phone!

When you download the app, go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Notifications’ and select the Galen App in the list on your phone. Please ensure that the Galen App is set to ‘Alerts’.

We’ll be gradually populating the app with relevant content for parents. However this will take time and we recommend visiting the Galen website homepage for the latest news, events and updates at: www.galen.vic.edu.au

The app automatically updates, but it needs to be closed down and re opened. To do this you can shake your phone when you are in the app and it will re start. Or double press on the iPhone home button and close the app by holding down your finger on the icon until the cross appears, then click on the cross to close the app. Once you have closed your app you can reopen it and it will be refreshed. ALL Apps remain running in the background of the phone unless they are closed properly. By double clicking your iPhone home button you will see all the apps that are running in the background of your phone. It is best to regularly check this and close all apps to save battery life and memory on your phone.
