New Year 7 students impressed

New Year 7s at Galen were truly wowed by the new facilities waiting for them upon arrival for their first day of school. “The new buildings are super cool!” mentioned new Year 7 Lindsey Harder. Angus Aggenbach added that not only are they modern, and that they’re the first students to use them, but the really great thing about the new spaces are the opportunities they bring. “They’re much different to primary school and its great being able to join with other classes to learn together and meet new people”. While Lindsey willingly admitted to having some first day nerves, these have gradually settled during the first week at school. “Everyone has been really helpful, this is a really good school and the wellbeing program is great.” Angus also noted that the older students in Years 8, 9 and 10 have also been happy to guide and give directions on where to find things if they’re lost. As expected, starting secondary school comes with many adjustments and changes. “I came from Rutherglen Primary School and lived close to school. There have been lots of new things to learn, like catching the bus, it feels like I’m going on a school excursion every day”. Both students only had words of praise for their new teachers and are looking forward to the year ahead, meeting new people, exploring the broad subject offerings at Galen and the many extra-curricular opportunities.
