The Parents Association met on Tuesday the 21st of February and the following is some information for all Parents at Galen:
At the end of 2011 $30,000 was given to Galen from the Parents Association.
It was decided for this year to spend $10,000 each on two items at the school, they were a P.A. system for the Stadium where masses and assemblies are held and to the Music Dept., for the purchase of a set of rather impressive looking and sounding Timpani Drums. We have a number of other big ticket items on the wish list from staff and we will be looking at those in future.
A  B.B.Q. will be held at the School Swimming Carnival manned by the Parents Association, we are hoping this will be an ongoing thing. (Thank you to all those people who supported us and purchased sausages on the night we raised $271.00)
Galen College Presentation Balls will be held on May 5th and May 12th.
The Parents Association Arts Awards were handed out to 4 deserving students at the end of 2011, the recipients were: year 7- Ben Lyons & Lucy Tharratt.   Year 8-Simeon Goeby & Caitlin O’Callaghan.
We are looking for people interested in forming a fundraising group, if you would like to put your name down please contact Allison King.
The next meeting will be held in the Staff Room on the 20th of March at 7.00 p.m.
