Galen’s Year 11 VCAL class was kept busy on Tuesday 9th February making pancakes for hordes of students on Shrove Tuesday. With pancake stacks being sold for $3.00, all proceeds from the event will go towards Caritas’ Project Compassion, raising much-needed funds for those living in poverty. Year 11 VCAL student Ellie Hourigan said, “It feels good knowing that we’re raising money for a good cause, especially those who need it most. Hopefully our donation will help those people have the things we take for granted like food, clean water and clothes.”
Through their efforts, students raised a total of $681.00 from their sales during recess. This sum of money will be added to during other activities at Galen during Lent. Class teacher Paul Walker expressed how impressed he was with the students, “I’m very proud of the way they promoted the event, prepared, cooked and cleaned up – all for a great cause.”
