On Thursday morning recently there were eighteen of us
Players, Teachers, bags and boots and Kev who drove the bus
Bound for Bendigo we were to battle unknown foes
To win, to lose, perhaps to draw, which one nobody knows
From Wang to Murchison we sped, then fur ther to the west
With spirits high the miles past by, I knew they’d do their best
At Bendigo the bus did stop and out we jumped all set
To show the Galen strength and skill to any team we met
Brunswick was the first team that did test the boys from Galen
Despite our many shots at goal, our effor ts all were failin’
Lady Luck deser ted us, two hostile shots went in
Two nil the final end result, so Brunswick had a win
The last game was against the team of local name and fame
Bendigo, and don’t they know just how to play this game
But Galen boys have other plans, to fight, to shoot, to score
And Bendigo are shocked and stunned, they stagger back in awe
But skilled they are and soon they strike and put one in the net
Galen boys respond with force, they block and pass and yet
It’s not enough, the time is gone, the triple whistle blows
And so our soccer effor ts now come to a final close
Galen boys, your job is done, return to Wang with pride.
Games lost, games won, it all was fun, you were an awesome side.
