Meet the Principal

Hi, I’m Shaun Mason, Principal here at Galen Catholic College.

I come from a strong background in learning and teaching, and I’m deeply interested in what’s happening in classrooms – how our students are learning, and how we as educators can support and stretch them. I believe in aiming for at least 12months of learning growth for every 12 months of input, and that’s something I’ll be working closely with our staff on as we continue to reflect, improve, and evolve together.

My teaching journey began at Xavier High School in Albury. Since then, I’ve served as Deputy Principal at Galen, Catholic College Wodonga (for nearly six years),and FCJ College. I’ve spent most of my career in the Northeast, and it’s great to be back at Galen – a community I know and care about.

You’ll see me around the school a lot – I’m sharing a homeroom, I’ll be in and out of classes, and I’ll be taking part in all the everyday moments that make up school life. I’m especially excited about the breadth of subject choices Galen offers – the widest in the region – and I’m committed to expanding those offerings so we can meet the real and evolving needs of our students.

I also believe that education works best when parents are engaged in it too. Talking to your kids about school – asking what they learned, what challenged them, what sparked their interest – shows them that their learning matters. And when they see that, they start to value it more themselves.

Galen has a proud history and a bright future, and I’m honoured to be part of that journey.

Warm regards,
Shaun Mason
Principal
